- • Alzheimer’s disease: It is a progressive disorder of brain in which issues related to memory, behaviour and thinking develop. The disorder can be treated with the help of medication and self-care practices. Nutritious food helps as well.
- • Brain aneurysm: The artery that carries blood to the brain bulges or balloons. Its symptoms include mild to severe headaches, problems in vision, pain above and behind the eye, drooping eyelid, dilated pupil, nausea and vomiting, paralysis on one side of face, seizures, sensitivity to light and pain or stiffness in the neck.
- • Brain tumour: It is a mass of abnormal cells in the brain. - • Epilepsy: It is a condition in which seizures or patterns of unusual behaviours and sensations occur. Some of its symptoms are euphoria during aura before the episode, temporary confusion, loss of consciousness or awareness, jerking or twitching of arms and legs, fear, anxiety, and episodes in which the patient stares blankly. Through brain surgery, the part of brain responsible for causing seizures is removed. Therapies, such as vagus nerve stimulation and ketogenic diet help in treating epilepsy.
- • Cervical disc herniation: When the disc between the bones of the spine breaks and the nucleus protrudes outside through the annulus, pain is caused due to compression of a nerve. Its symptoms include, but aren’t limited to, recurrent spasm in the muscles of back, pain in the leg, back, arm, and foot, weakness in muscle, numbness or tingling along thigh and burning sensation in the neck, shoulders, or arm. It is treated by taking medication, such as analgesics, muscle relaxants, anticonvulsants and narcotics, procedures, such as spine therapy and therapies, such as physical therapy. Using heating pad to soothe muscles that pain and avoiding bed rest and continuing low impact activities help in recovery.
